5 Types of Resume

As mentioned, resumes differ by country and industry, but in Canada there are four resume styles: Chronological, Functional, Combination, and Curricula Vitae. You will want to select the style based on the position you’re applying for and your level of experience. 

To help you understand the differences between each resume format and decide which is the best fit for you, here’s a detailed breakdown:

The chart below provides a quick comparison between the four styles.  Many of the sections are the same, or have minor differences, the next section will explain some of these sections and give examples of how it might look. The order listed for these is their traditional order, but you may be using a different layout.
